The trailer for Accused, the upcoming thriller starring Konkona Sen Sharma and Pratibha Ranta, has officially dropped, and the internet has plenty to say. Directed by Anubhuti Kashyap and produced by Karan Johar’s Dharmatic Entertainment, the film is already a major talking point on the 2026 Netflix lineup.
The trailer sets up a high-stakes story about reputation, but the real buzz is happening in the comment sections, where the reactions are as layered as the plot itself.
Most of the initial feedback is a big thumbs-up, especially for the casting. Konkona Sen Sharma plays Dr Geetika Sen, a top surgeon whose life is flipped upside down by an anonymous allegation.
Most of the viewers have loved the “creepy, quiet” vibe of the trailer. Accused seems to be going for a psychological burn, focusing on what happens when a powerful woman suddenly loses control of her own story.
One of the most talked-about parts of the trailer is the relationship between Geetika and her partner Meera (played by Laapataa Ladies star Pratibha Ranta). This has sparked two very different types of energy.
There’s a massive wave of excitement from female viewers. Many are praising the film for showing a queer relationship as a “normal” part of the story, focusing on the emotional drama rather than just the labels. The chemistry between Konkona and Pratibha is already being called a major highlight.
I know India has a long way to go in showing romantic moments between same-sex couples on the screen. This is something worth supporting. I am gonna be here for more LGBTQ+ representation and excited for Queer Indians who will experience this for the first time in their lifetime.

It’s beautiful to see a lesbian relationship treated as powerful, complex, and real. https://t.co/YGrcRICDNK

On the other hand, there’s some pushback. A segment of the audience has expressed discomfort with the “sapphic” themes, particularly the plot point involving an age gap and allegations of predatory behaviour. Some worry about how these themes are handled, while others have reacted more generally against the non-traditional setup.
Even with the debate, most people seem genuinely curious. The film looks like it wants to live in that uncomfortable space where nobody is 100% right or wrong.
At the end of the day, the solid hype among female viewers suggests that Accused is one of the most anticipated releases of the month. Whether it can balance its thriller plot with these sensitive social themes is what everyone is waiting to see. Stay tuned for more updates.
