Emraan Hashmi’s highly anticipated crime thriller, Taskaree: The Smuggler’s Web, has officially made its debut on Netflix India. However, eagle-eyed subscribers have noticed a curious glitch. While the series is freshly minted for the new year, the Netflix interface continues to tag the show with a 2025 release year.
Despite the marketing blitz confirming a January 14, 2026, premiere, the Netflix India dashboard is currently displaying “2025” next to the title.
While it’s a minor technical oversight, it hasn’t stopped the “Emraan Hashmi 2.0” wave from taking over social media. Fans are already joking that the show is so ahead of its time, the interface can’t even keep up with the calendar.

Directed by Raghav Jairath and created by the master of thrillers, Neeraj Pandey, Taskaree marks a significant departure for Emraan Hashmi. Moving away from his “Serial Kisser” legacy, Hashmi delivers a grounded, steely performance as Arjun Meena, a resolute Customs Officer.
Collaborating with Netflix for the first time since Khakee, Neeraj Pandey brings his signature realism to the screen. The series explores the silent world of airport customs, a law enforcement wing rarely depicted in Indian cinema.
The antagonist, Bada Chaudhary (played with menacing charm by Sharad Kelkar), provides the perfect foil to Hashmi’s calm demeanour, creating a high-stakes chess match between the two leads.
It doesn’t matter what Netflix’s UI says. Whether it’s 2025 or 2026, fans are excited for Emraan Hashmi’s Taskaree. Stream it now on Netflix India. Stay tuned for more updates.
