Anurag Basu’s Metro… In Dino is now streaming on Netflix. The film released in theatres on July 4 and turned out to be an average grosser, earning INR 79 crore against an INR 47 crore budget. It stars Aditya Roy Kapur, Sara Ali Khan, Ali Fazal, Fatima Sana Shaikh, Konkona Sen Sharma, Pankaj Tripathi, Neena Gupta, and Anupam Kher.
Now that Metro… In Dino is available on Netflix, this spiritual sequel to the 2007 film Life in a… Metro hasn’t been received as warmly as the original. That said, the audience response on OTT has been fairly positive.
The film is widely praised for Pritam’s soulful music, with many calling it the movie’s emotional core. On the flip side, it faces criticism for uneven storytelling and pacing, especially in the second half, where certain subplots feel rushed or unresolved.
While some viewers find the modern take on relationships compelling, others feel it’s lopsided and lacks balance. Overall, it’s considered a decent one-time watch, though it doesn’t quite capture the original’s magic.
Viewers highlight the film’s relatable and insightful portrayal of diverse relationships and single out the performances of Pankaj Tripathi, Neena Gupta, Konkona Sen Sharma, and Ali Fazal as standouts. However, some stories are seen as more effective than others, and a few performances, particularly Sara Ali Khan’s, have drawn criticism.
Despite its flaws, Metro… In Dino is regarded as a worthy sequel and proof that Anurag Basu still has what it takes. You can stream it now on Netflix. Enjoy!

Metro… In Dino (2025)
It just came online and I watched it & it’s a vibe! Not perfect but never boring. Better than what I expected. Anurag Basu’s urban love stories fit well in place, and Pritam’s music is pure soul.
