September 2025 could emerge as a month of record viewership for Netflix India. For the past month, Shah Rukh Khan, Aryan Khan, Red Chillies, and Netflix have left no stone unturned in promoting the upcoming series The Bads of Bollywood, which also marks Aryan’s directorial debut. Just when it seemed like the second half of September would completely belong to The Bads of Bollywood, the show has found an unexpected, and bittersweet, opponent.
The Bads of Bollywood is set for its grand premiere on Netflix on September 18. But threatening to spoil the party for SRK and Aryan is YRF’s Saiyaara, scheduled to arrive on September 12.
Netflix’s official announcement for Saiyaara came at the very last moment. It’s almost as if Netflix India knew just how powerful Saiyaara had become among Indian audiences, particularly younger viewers, and anticipated that its OTT release announcement would set social media ablaze. And that’s exactly what happened.
Fans of Saiyaara are going absolutely berserk on social media following Netflix’s announcement. The buzz shows no signs of dying down anytime soon. Adding fuel to the frenzy, many are demanding the film’s uncut version, which has further taken over the internet.
While this scenario looks outstanding for Saiyaara, it doesn’t bode as well for The Bads of Bollywood. With the film releasing six days before Aryan Khan’s debut project, and armed with strong public support, Saiyaara could devour a substantial portion of the hype surrounding Aryan’s series, potentially denting its viewership.
Although The Bads of Bollywood has the backing of industry heavyweights and a meticulously crafted marketing campaign, Saiyaara’s strength lies in its emotional resonance, organically built word-of-mouth, and the passionate loyalty of its audience.
For Saiyaara’s fanbase, the OTT release is a celebration. For Aryan Khan, however, it could mean a spoiled debut. For Netflix, though, this is a high-stakes but rewarding moment. The streamer has positioned itself to reap the benefits of both titles. With each promising massive viewership, this scenario could turn into a win-win for Netflix India.
That said, by putting Saiyaara out first, Netflix has let a wave of genuine support build up, one that could easily overshadow the carefully planned buzz around The Bads of Bollywood. It’s a gamble, but if it pays off, September 2025 could go down as a big moment in India’s streaming history. Stay tuned for more updates.
