The highly anticipated Dharma movie, Sarzameen, is now streaming on JioHotstar. Apart from being one of the most talked-about OTT releases this month, the film also drew substantial attention from viewers, mainly because of Ibrahim Ali Khan. Considering how people completely butchered the man and his debut flick, Nadaaniyan, Sarzameen was undoubtedly a chance for redemption for Ibrahim. Did he succeed? Let’s find out.
Early reactions to Sarzameen are out now, and they’re mixed. While praise has been directed at the earnest and compelling performances of Prithviraj Sukumaran and Kajol, other aspects of the movie, such as its story, pacing, and Ibrahim Ali Khan’s performance, have received polarized responses from audiences.
There is a section of OTT viewers who’ve appreciated Khan’s work, calling his effort “decent.” On the other hand, many haven’t been so kind toward the Nadaaniyan star, branding him a “misfit” and “emotionless.”
#Sarzameen (Hindi|2025) – HOTSTAR.
Gud Perf from Prithviraj & Kajol. Ibrahim is a misfit, emotionless face. Kashmir Visuals r beautiful. Familiar Story with an interesting Climax. Thr r emotions & patriotism in film, but couldnt connect to it due to weak writing. BELOW AVERAGE! pic.twitter.com/aQgHK6aOmf

#SarzameenReview: It has vibes like Mission Kashmir and Fanaa.
Rating: 3*/5 ⭐⭐⭐#Sarzameen is a one time watch film where #PrithvirajSukumaran and #Kajol pull off the dramedy very well whereas the #IbrahimAliKhan's performance is just decent. He has to learn more but I… pic.twitter.com/Y3EQZaPtCq

#Sarzameen The twist in the climax must have sounded exciting on paper but it doesn’t have the intended effect. In fact, it further brings the film down. Ibrahim Ali Khan does better here than Nadaaniyan but he has a long way to go https://t.co/RfOZqkaoVs

#Sarzameen is a beautiful little movie with emotions at the right place. Even Ibrahim acted decent in the movie along with superlative performances by Kajol and Prithviraj

#Sarzameen had a solid premise but failed to deliver. Weak screenplay and direction let it down. Prithvi, Kajol & the rest of the cast did well, but there was no real emotional connect. Overall, a mid watch with no standout moments.

Based on these reactions, it’s safe to say that Ibrahim Ali Khan still has a long way to go in Bollywood and a lot to learn. Sarzameen may not be the film that completely redeems him, but it does show glimpses of good acting potential.
So, while Sarzameen might not be the grand redemption arc many had hoped for Ibrahim Ali Khan, it’s clear that his journey in Bollywood is far from over. The mixed reactions suggest he’s still finding his footing, learning to navigate the demanding currents of the industry.
Perhaps with more diverse roles and continued dedication, Ibrahim will silence his critics and truly carve out his own space. Only time will tell whether he can transform those early “misfit” labels into a story of growth and eventual triumph.
In other words, Sarzameen serves more as a learning curve for Ibrahim Ali Khan than a platform to prove his acting prowess. His future in Hindi cinema hinges on his ability to absorb feedback, hone his craft, and choose projects that better showcase his potential. Stay tuned for more updates.
