The makers of Matka King have announced that the series will release on Prime Video on April 17, 2026. The official trailer was unveiled recently at the platform’s slate event, creating strong buzz around the show.
Matka King stars Vijay Varma in the lead role and is set in Mumbai of the 1960s. The story follows a cotton trader who wants respect and a better life. He creates a new gambling game called Matka, which quickly becomes popular across the city. What starts as an idea soon grows into something much bigger, changing the lives of many people.
The series is created by filmmaker Nagraj Manjule, known for Sairat, along with Abhay Koranne. Nagraj Manjule also directs the show. The makers have described it as a fictional story inspired by real events from that time.
