JioHotstar’s upcoming Mahabharata: Ek Dharmayudh is getting attention for all the wrong reasons. The trailer, which was supposed to showcase India’s first AI-powered mythological series, has left viewers upset. People have called out the poor lip sync, missing audio clarity, and awkward visuals. The dialogues feel out of place, and the characters look stiff and expressionless.
Technology experiments can be exciting, but making a full series on the Mahabharata using only AI feels like a bad idea. This story is deeply emotional and full of human conflict, love, and sacrifice. It needs real performances that can bring out those feelings. AI cannot capture the soul or intensity that the Mahabharata deserves, and that is where this version seems to have gone wrong.
Meanwhile, Netflix’s Kurukshetra is being praised for its decent animation, sound, and storytelling. Viewers say it feels richer and more engaging. The difference between the two projects is already visible, and JioHotstar’s weak promotion has made things worse.
JioHotstar already owns one of India’s most loved versions of the epic which is the Star Plus Mahabharata that aired from 2013 to 2014. That show is still remembered for its grand production, soulful music, and powerful acting. Fans who grew up watching it will naturally prefer that over an emotionless AI experiment.
