Every bookish nerd is aware of this famous author Dolly Alderton, her novel “Everything I Know About Love” and “Ghosts” is a global best seller.
Now Netflix is developing a new series based on classic author Jane Austen’s popular novel “Pride and Prejudice”, where Dolly Alderton will be the script writer.
Now the project is still on the writers table so nothing is confirmed yet, and no cast is attached to it.
The streaming platform hasn’t confirmed it either.
The novel has been adapted before as well with the 2005 adaptation of “Pride and Prejudice” which is no doubt a fan’s favourite movie.
With Keira Knightley as Elizabeth Bennett and Matthew Macfadyen as Mr. Darcy.
Now all the previous adaptations focused deeply on the story’s plot line and how to do justice to the story but with Dolly Alderton it might take a different route.
Her unique way of writing is the best part, her new novel “Good Materials”, which follows the story of a comedian and how the character is dealing with a break up and at the same time the struggles of the career.
Although, BBC announced a spin-off of this story called “The Other Bennett Sister”, focusing on the character of Mary.
But, if we focus on the novel there is not much information in the series other than Elizabeth and Jane. So, BBC’s project might be a whole different story which doesn’t align with Austen’s plot.
Moreover, just like “Harry Potter” got a series which is expected to premiere in 2026 or 2027, faced huge criticism.
Netflix’s “Pride and Prejudice” also has a chance to be criticised by the people. But, because the project is not yet ready we can hope that Dolly Alderton will do justice to the series.
