Ahsoka Season 2 has finally received a solid update after months of fan speculation about its release window. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the sophomore season “will go into production next year,” as disclosed in the publication’s round-up analysis of Disney’s Star Wars content.
Lucasfilm officially announced the development of Ahsoka Season 2 in January of this year. Since then, no further updates were provided by the studio about the season’s status—until now.
THR also reports that the delay in Season 2’s release is likely due to Dave Filoni’s involvement in making The Mandalorian & Grogu movie, which is scheduled for worldwide theatrical release on May 22, 2026. This means Filoni will oversee the development of Ahsoka Season 2 after completing his work on The Mandalorian & Grogu.
The above-mentioned scenario makes it clear that Season 2 will arrive after the release of the upcoming Jon Favreau movie. There’s a possibility that Star Wars will unveil a new slate of TV shows at the next Star Wars Celebration in Tokyo. Ahsoka Season 2 may be included in this plan, which could explain the production delay.
Another plausible reason for the delay in the production of Ahsoka Season 2 is Disney and Lucasfilm’s joint effort to focus more on The Mandalorian & Grogu, as it is the first theatrical Star Wars project since Solo: A Star Wars Story, which was released in 2018. It seems both studios want to balance the number of shows and movies within the prominent space opera franchise. Stay tuned for more updates.
