The coming of Marvel Jesus to the MCU was a breeze of fresh air to the superhero-frustrated audience. The multiversal joyride that was Deadpool & Wolverine earned Marvel a well-deserved billion at the box office. The movie’s unapologetic raunchy humor dragged the audience from their homes to their theaters, and now the movie is now keeping them stuck to their home screens with its digital release.
Deadpoll & Wolverine was released digitally on October 1, and in the week that followed, it has already surpassed the legendary hype of Barbenheimer. The movie has been bought and rented by over 597 thousand households. This already puts it above the viewership of Oscar-winning Oppenheimer and the critically acclaimed Barbie.
The movie was the only Marvel movie of 2024. It was a new experience altogether for the Marvel fans, who had been subjected to family-friendly, sanitized movies in the MCU under the all-powerful thumb of Mickey Mouse.
Despite the controversy surrounding the allegations of studio interference, the movie is now one of the most successful Marvel projects ever. Not just that, the movie will be Marvel’s Bet at the Oscar in the comedy and musical category. The studio will find its Blu-ray release on 20th October.
