The official trailer for Jacques Audiard’s Emilia Pérez has surfaced, starring the likes of Zoe Saldaña, Selena Gomez, and Karla Sofía Gascón. It is set to premiere on Netflix on November 13, after getting a limited theatrical release in early November this year.
Through vibrant songs and dance sequences accompanied by striking visuals, Emilia Pérez showcases the lives of four extraordinary women in Mexico, each on a quest for their own happiness. The formidable cartel leader Emilia (Gascón) recruits Rita (Saldaña), an undervalued lawyer trapped in a stagnant position, to assist in staging her death, allowing Emilia to finally embrace her true self.
Along these two ladies, we witness Gomez as Jessi Del Monte, Adriana Paz as Epifania, Mark Ivanir as Dr. Wasserman, Edgar Ramirez as Gustavo Brun, and more.
This Jacques Audiard film earned critical acclaim at this year’s Cannes Film Festival, with many critics believing that it could receive a nomination for Best Picture at the upcoming Oscars. The timing of the movie’s release seems to be perfect.
Early reviews sang praises for Gascón, who bestows a hard-hitting and sensational performance as the protagonist. Alongside her, we see Saldaña and Gomez giving their career-best performances in the movie.
Emilia Pérez has a ‘fresh’ critic score of 87% on Rotten Tomatoes, based on 62 certified reviews. Watch the trailer right here!
