Marvel might just have plans to prepone the Fantastic 4 movie. And if it is true, then the year is not ready for the massive clash between the MCUs comeback Train and the DCUs first project, Superman Legacy. Yes, the studio might just move fantastic four: first steps to July 11 from July 25, 2024.
The two movies are of titanic proportions in their own rights. The Superman movie is DCU’s first project. While the studio has a very bad history in regards to delivering and meeting fan expectations, the Superman movie has enough factors to make sure that it leaves an impact. Firstly, it is Superman. The widest known symbol of hope all over the world, that too in its most human form. Fleshed out by James Gunn himself, who has a name for pulling IPs out of obscurity and making them everyday names like the GOTG. Merge the two and we have a definite blockbuster.
But there must be something under Marvel’s sleeve, given that they are ready to take on this beef. Enter Fantastic Four. Fantastic Four is pure fan service. The movie is set in an entirely different universe, giving Marvel insane creative freedom away from the continuity constraints. The movie will showcase Marvel’s first family. The Fantastic 4 is one of the most profitable IPs of Marvel Comics.
Overall, it will be an insane clash if it happens. For Marvel, it might just be a strategy to squash the competition in its infancy. For DCU, it’s once again a “quite buff David” vs. Goliath situation. However, the cons are simple: the fanbase will experience a massive divide. Effecting business on both sides. Let’s see whether the people at Marvel are ready to make this insane move.
