For those who love something hot and spicy, whether it be chicken wings or Hollywood gossip, there is good news and bad news. Starting off with the good news, YouTube’s spiciest talk show, “Hot Ones,” is next in line to be Netflix’s newest acquisition. The bad news is, it is available for free for everyone to watch right there on YouTube. Which might just change.
Netflix has recently acquired a couple of intellectual properties, which include NFL and WWE. Now Netflix is in talks with Buzzfeed Inc., owner of the hot ones. The talk show revolves around celebrities participating in the challenge of eating spicy chicken wings while the show’s host, Sean Evans, talks to them.
The Hot Ones is one of the most recognized Youtube brands. Ever teeming with celebrities, it is highly unlikely to go irrelevant, which explains why Netflix is trying to have the cake, or shall we say chicken wing for itself? This would mean that the show can get a complete overhaul. Or it might just be one of the newest Netflix experiments after streaming golf matches and hot dog eating contests.
As of now, there are no confirmations whether the Talk show is getting acquired by Netflix. While this might be a good thing for the show, the people who used to watch it on YouTube might need to shift to Netflix.
