Ladies and gentlemen! You are not ready for what’s coming! Homelander has suited up, and Billy Butcher has prepared himself for the highly anticipated The Boys Season 5. Set to arrive on Prime Video on April 8 with a two-episode premiere, this Eric Kripke beauty is ready for one big fat last hurrah!
We still have one more day to get our hands on the initial episodes of Season 5, but some lucky chaps received the opportunity to watch the final season via early screenings, and they have started to post their thoughts about the final chapter.
As per the early reactions, The Boys Season 5 is the darkest, bleakest, and most gripping instalment of the franchise. The final showdown between Butcher’s crew and Vought’s finest, led by the maniacal and deranged Homelander, has been hailed as wild, bloody, and diabolical, yet highly emotional.
The final season has received a phenomenal start on Rotten Tomatoes, receiving a spectacular 96% “fresh” score, based on 27 critic reviews.
The story picks up in a dark place. Homelander might not have the official title of President, but he’s essentially running the show. The early episodes introduce “Freedom Camps”, Vought-run prisons for anyone who supports Starlight or dares to post a meme mocking Homelander.
While the Boys (Hughie, Mother’s Milk, and Frenchie) start the season in a tight spot, the resistance led by Annie January is heating up. Expect a lot of “ripped from the headlines” satire that hits closer to home than ever before.
Jensen Ackles fans (and also fans of Supernatural), rejoice! Early reports confirm that Soldier Boy is back in a big way. Kripke has teased that he isn’t just a cameo this time, he’s a big character for the final run.
The first couple of episodes will drop on April 8, followed by a weekly release of episodes, leading up to the massive finale, which arrives on May 20. Stay tuned for more updates.
Here are some early reactions to The Boys Season 5!
#TheBoys season 5 left me destroyed & entertained. The stakes r higher, the body count is larger, the writing is more impactful & the story mimics real life events 2 the point where America is a parody of The Boys or vice versa. A perfect sendoff thats hilarious & heart wrenching pic.twitter.com/ySBqIRnzrJ

I’ve seen 7 episodes of #TheBoys Season 5 & it’s easily the darkest & most emotionally gripping the series has ever been. If this is the final chapter, it’s shaping up to be everything I’ve loved about the show from the start… maybe even more. And Kimiko? Absolute standout. pic.twitter.com/Mo7JwgVnBV

For Season 5 #TheBoys doesn’t attempt a reinvention. Instead, it doubles down on everything that made the series essential viewing in the first place, delivering a finale that feels both earned and unflinchingly true to its identity. https://t.co/WvHqpAQOwd

I’ve seen the first two episodes of #TheBoys season 5 and the premiere especially is amazing. Episode 2 is a banger as well but the first episode is that good they genuinely could’ve just released that. It had my jaw on the floor come the final scene. If the rest of this season… pic.twitter.com/AdkOdgm1fS
