Sundays in this season are enjoyed best with a cup of coffee, late mornings and a nice movie to watch with the family. Here is a recommendation for a very beautiful movie that you can watch this Sunday.
‘Ithaca’ is a war drama that came out in 2015. The movie stars actors like Alex Neustaedter, Meg Ryan, Jack Quaid, Sam Shepard, Hamish Linklater, Tom Hanks and more. The performances are subtle and the movie can be watched for the one and only Tom Hanks too.
Based on the novel named ‘The Human Comedy’ by William Saroyan, ‘Ithaca’ is directed by Meg Ryan and has its screenplay written by Erik Jendresen.
The movie tells the story of a 14 year old boy named Homer whose older brother goes to World War 2 to serve as an army man and he is left to take care of his family. Homer takes up a job as a telegram messenger who delivers messages by bicycle and he wants to be the best messenger in the town. Homer, and his whole family goes through many upside and downs as the war changes the political landscape of the country.
The visuals are stunning. Andrew Dunn has done a great job as a cinematographer in the movie. And John Mellencamp has given some beautiful music in the movie too.
The movie is available to watch on Prime Video, if you are looking for a period drama to watch this Sunday, you can definitely try ‘Ithaca’ out.
