Todd Philips’ Joker: Folie A Deux has delivered its final punchline. By now it was public knowledge that Joker 2 was not what anyone expected it to be, and on the top of the list of expectations was for it to be good. The movie somehow managed to be worse than Madame Webb and Morbius. That is an achievement indeed. However, that achievement was not enough, and hence, Joker 2 is now going to shoot for the Oscars.
If you too laughed at it, then at least something good came out of Joker 2 after all. News is, Lady Gaga, who plays Harley Quinn in the movie, is now submitted to the Oscars, and yes, she is a great singer; in fact, no one actually criticized her performance, but to be fair, it was not exceptional either.
Every sliver of emotion was a song opportunity, and if that is why she is there, then perhaps that could be a viable reason. Otherwise, everyone is asking a unanimous “Why?” to the creators. Now that the last year has been really good for WB, the Barbenheimer hype alone had the entire box office snatched. Still, Barbie could only get one award, and that was for the best song.
This time WB is submitting the movie for best movie, best actor, best supporting actor, best picture, best director, and the best original song sung by Lady Gaga.
If there’s anything that can be said about this, confidence can be rewarding at times. And WB is quite confident with its product; the audience, however, is disappointed, with some defederates scattered amidst the crowds.
