Marvel has made a very significant comeback in 2024. With two insanely well-received projects, it seems to have taken a new direction. But what does the future hold for the MCU? It seems like the upcoming slate has a healthy mix of original content and generous fan service in Phase 5 and Phase 6 of the MCU. The multiverse Saga will continue up until the events of secret wars, but what are the titles that will lead up to the hype of Doomsday and Secret Wars?
Starting off strong, we have the very promising Captain America: Brave New World in February, along with Thunderbolts* in May. In between these two movies, we will also get to see the return of The Daredevil in March, and then, closing in on a rather grounded phase 5, we have Iron-Heart. Even though the audience didn’t really connect to Riri Williams at first in Wakanda Forever, there’s, of course, a lot of scope for improvement.
Moving on to phase 6, we have in July Fantastic Four: First Steps set in a different reality, and then we will get to witness the epic showdown in May of 2026 in Avengers: Doomsday. There are more projects to fill in the year-long gap. Given that Vision Quest will start shooting next year, the series can have a 2026 release.
Blade, starring Mahershala Ali, is scrapped off of the plate; however, there are more projects with a lot of fog around them. Eyes of Wakanda being one along with the Wonder Man project. The animation side of MCU is looking quite delightful, with Marvel Zombies and What If… season 3 already set in motion. There is also the much-awaited Friendly Neighborhood Spider-Man, which is not a part of the MCU.
There are three more untitled projects with their release date set in 2028. These could very well be the X-Men movies, but there is no confirmation about it as of now. Marvel is in fact looking for a reboot post-2027 Avengers: Secret Wars, ushering in The Mutant Saga.
