Mr. McMahon: Netflix’s Unfiltered Look At WWE’s Controversial Kingpin

Netflix, once the go-to platform for binge-worthy shows and hit films, has quietly carved out a niche for itself as a curator of thought-provoking and impactful documentaries. From 13th to Disclosure, Found to Fyre, Homecoming: A Film by Beyoncé to Jim & Andy: The Great Beyond, Netflix has delivered a comprehensive and diverse range of documentaries to its viewers in a short period. Now, we have another jaw-dropping and scintillating docuseries for you from the streamer! It’s about the man, the myth—though certainly not a legend! He dedicated his entire life to WWE, transforming it from a small wrestling promotion into a multi-billion dollar empire. However, his involvement in plenty of real-life controversies is no secret. Yup, we are talking about Mr. McMahon, now streaming on Netflix.

Mr. McMahon offers a deeper look into the influential yet controversial career of Vincent Kennedy McMahon. Chris Smith, known for his work on Tiger King, helmed the docuseries.

The documentary features numerous interviews from the world of pro wrestling (or “sports entertainment,” as McMahon prefers to call it), with appearances by Triple H, Hulk Hogan, John Cena, Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, Eric Bischoff, Dave Meltzer, Stone Cold Steve Austin, Bret Hart, Paul Heyman, Stephanie McMahon, Shane McMahon, Cody Rhodes, and more. These individuals offer a wide range of perspectives on McMahon’s career and legacy as a promoter.

If you are a hardcore fan of WWE (especially from the early ’90s), you will have no problem connecting with the docuseries right away. However, if you stopped watching years ago because it was “fake” or for any other reason, you will still find this series intriguing. If you watch all six episodes in a row, that’s a lot of McMahon in your life!

Netflix wasn’t joking when it claimed it would “not hold back” on this docuseries—and it didn’t! The interviews with Vince McMahon were filmed in 2021, before his involvement in numerous controversies—ranging from sexual abuse allegations to hush money agreements—surfaced online and became widely known.

Beyond these controversies, the docuseries also reveals the kind of man McMahon truly is, shedding light on his competitive yet egomaniacal spirit, his relentless drive to succeed, his business mindset, his love for WWE, and much more. In addition to its nostalgic elements, the series will likely leave you in a grey area between scripted entertainment and reality. Even after watching all six episodes, you may still wonder if you’ve truly figured out who Vince McMahon is.

Mr. McMahon is now streaming on Netflix. Enjoy!
