Idris Elba will be seen in a documentary based around the evergrowing number of knife crimes in the United Kingdom for the BBC. The project, aptly titled “Idris Elba: A Year of Knife Crime,” will delve into the reality around the world of these wieding offenders. Getting to know them better and seeking into their reality. Possibly offering a viable solution to the “epidemic.”.
The actor will explore the choices that lead these people down such paths. Even the Prime Minister Keir Starmer will be featured on the set, along with multiple families that are still grieving from such assaults. The documentary will also feature politicians who have to face these attackers every now and then.
“So many people dismiss knife crime as something that doesn’t affect them.” The documentary will also explore the racial bias of such assaults. The problem, as the documentary mentions, is not centered around “Black and Brown urban and gang-related” sections of society. As the frequency of such accounts of assault is getting higher by the year and is also spreading in the rural areas, the documentary will function as a bridge to understanding and hopefully ending the “knife epidemic of the UK”
The documentary will be a 60-minute-long project, produced by 22 Summer, Elba’s own production company. It is yet to have a release date; however, the series will be broadcasted on BBC and IPlayer.
