Prime Video’s The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Season 2 has concluded Adar’s arc. Despite all his efforts to take down the Dark Lord, Sauron, once and for all, he met his demise in the Season 2 finale. In many ways, Adar emerged as one of the best characters of the season.
Adar was the only being in The Rings of Power who truly believed that orcs deserved to be more than Sauron’s slaves. Tragically, however, the orcs became disillusioned under the Dark Lord’s spell and ended up killing their master. This not only sets Adar apart from other antagonists in the show but also adds a sense of tragedy to his intricate and intriguing character.
Adar wanted to kill Sauron to secure a better future for the orcs and make peace with the Elves. But he ultimately ended up doing what Sauron intended—destroying the Southlands and attacking Eregion. In the end, the war became too much for the orcs, and they chose to follow the Dark Lord, who promised them eternal glory.
Sauron will replace Adar as the main villain in Season 3. In many ways, Adar’s death makes sense, as Sauron is the show’s ultimate antagonist. With all 19 Rings of Power forged, things will certainly become more interesting and favorable for the Dark Lord. We may see him attempting to manipulate the race of Men in Season 3, similar to how he deceived Celebrimbor in Season 2. Compared to the Elves, Men are greedier and more vulnerable, making them an easier target for Sauron in the upcoming season.
Adar believed his purpose was to find a new identity and way of life for the orcs. However, he ended up contributing to Sauron’s goal of ruling all of Middle-earth. Let’s see how things unfold in Season 3. Stream The Rings of Power Season 2 on Prime Video.
