The debut of “Stranger Things” Season 5 on Netflix established new viewership records. The season achieved 59.6 million views in its first five days, setting the best premiere-week viewership ever for an English-language Netflix series. This performance places it as the third-best overall debut, behind only two seasons of the Korean series “Squid Game.”
The Season 5 debut marked a significant increase from the previous installment, registering growth of approximately 171% over the Season 4 premiere. If we convert the views earned by the debut of Season 4, then it would translate to somewhere around 22 million views. Furthermore, anticipating the new release, “Stranger Things” became the first series to have five different seasons simultaneously listed on the Netflix Top 10 chart during the week of November 24-30. Season 5 was ranked No. 1, with all four previous seasons also making the list.
Netflix only released the first four episodes of Season 5 for the premiere. The remaining three episodes are scheduled to debut on Christmas Day, with the series finale airing on New Year’s Eve. Given this staggered release and the initial success, Season 5 is widely expected to secure a high ranking on Netflix’s list of most popular English-language TV titles of all time, likely surpassing the Season 4 record.
