The final episode of Stranger Things Season 5 began streaming early this morning on 1 January 2026. In India, the episode dropped at 6.30 am. Because this was the grand finale of one of the biggest shows in the world, hundreds of thousands of viewers tried to open Netflix at the exact same time.
Soon after the release, Netflix stopped working for many users across the globe. People could not watch the finale or even load the platform. Social media quickly filled with complaints, jokes, and frustration. While the outage disappointed fans, it did not come as a complete surprise. Similar issues had happened earlier during the premiere of Season 5 Volume 1 and Volume 2.
Some viewers believe the problem was simply caused by massive traffic, as everyone rushed to watch the last episode together. Others feel that, intentional or not, the outage worked as a strange kind of promotion. It showed just how many people were excited for the end of Stranger Things.
After some time, Netflix services returned to normal. The platform is now running smoothly, and fans are finally watching the finale they waited years for. For many viewers, the brief outage will be forgotten, but the end of Stranger Things will be remembered for a long time.
If you everyone is watching stranger things series finale tonight! Unfortunately @Netflix has crash again. A Brief Pause while they try again!

A Netflix outage has been triggered by massive traffic from the Stranger Things season 5 finale release.
A similar crash occurred during the season premiere in November 2025.
There is no ETA on the @netflix account as to when it will be fixed.
Enjoy your show when it is back! https://t.co/pAyFG0sfB9
