Street-Level Fast 11? Sorry Vin, That Ship (Or Race Car) Has Sailed

Street-Level Fast 11? Sorry Vin, That Ship (Or Race Car) Has Sailed

Wait! WHAT??? Vin Diesel has revealed that Fast & Furious 11 will return to the popular franchise’s street-level roots, allowing it to come full circle. Well, sorry to say this, Vin, but it’s far too late for that!

If we look back at all the entries in the Fast & Furious franchise, the original 2001 movie is the only one that is purely grounded and street-level. It features the late Paul Walker as Brian O’Connor, an undercover LAPD cop tasked with infiltrating and busting Dominic Toretto’s (Diesel) street racing crew. However, things become complicated when Brian develops a complex and unusual friendship with Dom and falls in love with his sister, Mia (Jordana Brewster).

The Fast and the Furious had a grounded and straightforward storyline. Yet, it benefitted immensely from its stylish portrayal of street racing, exhilarating car chases and racing sequences, impeccable chemistry between the leads, and a killer soundtrack. Fast forward twenty years to F9, where we watched Tej (Chris “Ludacris” Bridges) and Roman (Tyrese Gibson) venture into outer space—with a race car. A freaking race car! Come on! Even audiences were like, “That’s just too much to watch and digest.”

Fast & Furious 11 is being hailed as the final entry in the franchise. But are we really sure about that? Almost every “dead” character has returned in the later entries. With the franchise’s handsome box-office collections, who knows what could happen? Who knows? Oh, dear Lord! Over 23 years have passed since The Fast and the Furious premiered, and the time to return to its street-level roots is long gone, Mark Sinclair (that’s Vin Diesel’s real name, for those who don’t know).

After all these years, now they think it’s a brilliant idea to suddenly ground a franchise that’s been hurling cars into space and swinging through jungles? Like, seriously? After all that ludicrousness, they expect us to believe they’re going back to “street level”? WTH! It’s like trying to turn a rocket into a bicycle.

Let’s add more fuel to this fire! How about improving our understanding of this scenario with the help of Fast X’s finale? We see Dom and Little B driving down a dam—yes, a dam—while being chased by a humongous explosion. Fast & Furious 11 must start from this cliffhanger. And Dom will save Little B from an exploding dam. Just think about it! There’s absolutely no way Fast 11’s opening sequence can have a grounded feel to it.

Okay, let’s wrap this article up! The writer of this piece is officially done! Fast 11 is slated to release in 2026. Stay tuned for more updates.
