Marvel is finally finding its feet again. Ever since Thor: Love and Thunder went crashing, not only the people outside Marvel but the insiders too were divided. Earlier this year, Chris Hemsworth talked about his experience with Marvel, stating, “I got caught up in improv and became a parody of myself.” This one sentence started a cascade of responses. Some came in defense, while the people outside took their liberty to attack Marvel, which was already in its downtime.
Recently, Sebastian Stan, or as the MCU fans know him, “the Winter Soldier,” came in defense of the franchise. “It’s very convenient to pick on Marvel, and that’s fine.” The number of mediocre performances has caused many to practically bully Marvel for bad choices. Many actors themselves felt wronged by the executive decisions, like Hemsworth. However, the Marvel projects are still one of the biggest events at the box office. The movies get the money moving.
Not to mention the comments like that of legends like Martin Scorsese, who straight up denied the Marvel projects a proper dignified status of movies. These mentions do harm the credibility of Marvel. To say the least, Marvel has been hands down the biggest phenomenon in the entertainment industry.
Perhaps it is about time; the slander about Marvel stops. It is to be understood that not every movie can be an auteur film. Not every movie has to be a commentary, that too a franchise with a giant green man in an unrippable pair of joggers and a purple alien with a love for gems.
The movie might be wacky every once in a while. At this point, it’s also the curse of the standard. This studio is the same that brought us the insane spectacle of Endgame and Infinity War. It was bound to be less impactful after that. The best course of action would be to keep faith in the magic of Marvel and wait as it builds us up for the next showdown, which isn’t really that far away.
