In the ever-growing wave of Hallyu in India, a new contender has emerged to challenge the dominance of gritty thrillers and heartwarming romances. Cashero, a genre-bending superhero K-drama, has become a sleeper hit on Netflix India since its release on December 26, 2025, quickly climbing the charts to settle comfortably in the Top 10.
The latest Netflix Top 10 rankings place Cashero in the #4 spot, beating the likes of 90’s Season 1, Emily in Paris Season 5, AIR: All India Rankers Season 1, and older seasons of Stranger Things.
At the heart of Cashero is a premise that feels relatable in today’s economy. Lee Jun-ho stars as Kang Sang-woong, an ordinary civil servant whose only dream is to save enough money to buy an apartment with his girlfriend, Kim Min-sook (Kim Hye-jun).
Everything changes when he inherits a superpower from his father: superhuman strength. The catch? His power is directly proportional to the physical cash in his pocket. The more he fights for justice, the more his bank balance vanishes.
The show isn’t just about Sang-woong. He joins a motley crew of unconventional heroes whose powers are equally bizarre. We meet the Caloric Crusader, Bang Eun-mi (Kim Hyang-gi), a telekinetic whose powers are fuelled by sugar and bread. The more she eats, the stronger her mind becomes. There’s also the Drunken Lawyer, Byeon Ho-in (Kim Byung-chul), who leads the coalition, but whose abilities only activate after he’s had a few drinks.
Indian viewers have praised the chemistry between the leads. While the show features vibrant action and CGI, it’s the social commentary that has kept it trending. Cashero explores the cost of kindness in a capitalist world.
Some critics have called it a “one-time watch” or “cluttered”. However, the Indian audience’s reception has been overwhelmingly positive.
