What happens when one of Hollywood’s biggest actors teams up with one of the greatest film directors of all time? Tom Cruise is known for his exceptional acting talents and his ability to perform death-defying stunts. Alejandro G. Iñárritu is renowned for using bold and unconventional filmmaking techniques. Their collaboration, announced by Warner Bros back in February, is officially moving forward.
According to Variety, the Tom Cruise movie, produced by Legendary Entertainment and Warner Bros and directed by Alejandro G. Iñárritu, will soon begin filming in the United Kingdom. While a fixed start date hasn’t been set, rumours suggest that production could commence as early as next month.
Apart from Cruise, the film stars John Goodman, Sandra Hüller, Sophie Wilde, Jesse Plemons, and Michael Stuhlbarg.
The upcoming collaboration with Cruise will be Iñárritu’s first English project since The Revenant (2015), in which he worked alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Tom Hardy. He is also producing the project with WB. The untitled film is based on a script he co-wrote with “Birdman” scribes Alexander Dinelaris and Nicolas Giacobone.
The film also marks Cruise’s first movie with Warner Bros since his last collaboration, Edge of Tomorrow, which came out in theatres nearly a decade ago.
Not much is known about the movie’s storyline but it may focus on the most powerful man in the world. According to Deadline, he “embarks on a frantic mission to prove he is humanity’s saviour before the disaster he’s unleashed destroys everything.” Stay tuned for more updates.
