As long as the entertainment and media industry is concerned, it is observed very often that if a feature film, especially an international one, performs badly at the box-office and leaves viewers high and dry, it causes viewers to become skeptical of international titles in general.
Such seems to be the case that ‘Joker: Folie à Deux’ has created. Not only was the title a big box-office blunder, it left awaiting fans not only disappointed, but also enraged. So much so that apparently international titles in general are having a hard time exciting Indian fans.
Except for the exception of ‘Venom: The Last Dance’, even films like ‘Gladiator 2’ are not generating the buzz amongst Indian audiences, as compared to some other parts of the world. Moreover, ‘Anora’, the Palme d’Or winner at the 77th Cannes Film Festival, is also not quite well-awaited by Indian fans, as it gets ready to premiere on November 8.
Apart from this, November 15 will witness the release of 2 English movies: Dwayne Johnson – Chris Evans – J K Simmons led ‘Red One’, and Cillian Murphy’s ‘Small Things Like These’, while Ariana Grande’s ‘Wicked’ and Tom Hanks’ ‘Here’ will also premiere in theatres during the upcoming month.
None of these titles seem to have piqued the interest of Indian audiences, to say the least. With a few weeks left before their release, one can only hope that they are marketed better to drive Indian audiences into theatres!
