Bollywood’s nostalgic ride is not only taking the Bollywood industry or Indian fans by storm but now it has reached overseas, the re-release of “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham” which grossed £17.3K over the weekend in limited theatres in the UK.
It is a fairly known fact that Bollywood is still known by its classic old school dramas to the foreign land, it will be very rare to find a person who is unaware of the dialogue “Bare bare desho mai aise choti choti baate Hoti raheti hai”, and identify that it’s from Bollywood.
Alongside the global recognition Shah Rukh Khan has it is quite evident why this movie became such a big thing in the UK.
But, apart from this the new Kareena Kapoor Khan movie “ The Buckingham Murders” grossed £16K, in its 1st weekend.
Now the question is, what does the audience want? Because in “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham” we can witness Kareena Kapoor Khan and so in “The Buckingham Murders” the only difference is one is an old movie and the other one just got released.
Why is Kareena’s new take less preferred right now?
Because the movie got a good 7.5 IMDb rating and it is also appreciated by the critics.
As we are talking about overseas success we have to keep this in mind that the audience of the UK is unaware of Kareena’s whole journey she took between “Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham” to “The Buckingham Murders”.
But, one thing is very clear that in foreign land old Bollywood melodramatic movies still have their charm.
