Squid Game is back and bigger than ever! The blockbuster Netflix series is getting ready for its second season, and fans are more excited than ever. Since it first came out on September 17, 2021, Season 1 has been watched by over 330 million people, with a total of 2.8 billion hours viewed. After Netflix dropped the Season 2 teaser on October 31, more people went back to rewatch Season 1, making it even more popular.
So the views are just adding up without a pause. People are perhaps re-watching or those who did not watch the first season are preparing themselves for the grand second season.
Netflix is also bringing the show to life with the Squid Game Experience. Fans can play real-life versions of the games from the show (don’t worry, no one gets hurt!). The experience is running in New York City and Madrid, with plans to open in Sydney on December 14 and Seoul in 2025.
Interestingly, Squid Game creator Hwang Dong-hyuk wasn’t planning to make a second season. Creating the first season was so hard, he wasn’t sure he wanted to go through it again. But the show’s huge success and fans asking for more convinced him to continue. He’s now working on both Season 2 and 3!
Season 2 will finally continue Gi-hun’s story after he decided not to board that plane in Season 1. Fans can’t wait to see what happens next when the new season drops on December 26. With so much excitement building, it’s clear Squid Game isn’t just a show but a global phenomenon. Are you ready to play again?
