The political turmoil of Bangladesh disturbed the entertainment industry in the country too. And platforms like Chorki that were getting huge recognition are now far behind Indian counterparts like AddaTimes and mainly Hoichoi.
There are some big projects in the pipeline for Chorki and there are people waiting eagerly for them as well. But this long gap might not be bridged easily by the platform.
Hoichoi, on the other hand, is coming with new projects every month and some of them have Bangladeshi cast and crew as well. The new content slate that includes originals like ‘Talmar Romeo Juliet’ will put the channel way forward now. Nuhash Humayun gave some international standard content to Chorki, and it was expected that if a regional platform rises from the subcontinent with as diverse a content slate as Netflix, it will be none other than Chorki. But the delay and the gap is nobody’s fault, and there is no way that the platform can overcome very soon too.
After the political climate of the country is stabilised, what the platform will have to do is commission new originals with as big filmmakers as possible. Nuhash Humayun is an easy choice, Giasuddin Selim, Syed Ahmed Shawki are some others. The platform will have to take a big risk and commission many new shows that would pace up with time and try to catch up with the competitors.
