Jake Paul and Mike Tyson probably broke the internet for all the wrong reasons after their recent boxing match. The two athletes were shaping up their event to be one of the most anticipated sporting events of all time but the actual result and match fell flat on the audience’s expectations.
The event despite getting trolled over the internet garnered several viewers and has now attained high levels of viewership for Netflix. Keeping the result and fight aside, there were a string of problems for live viewers as there were buffering issues throughout the event showcasing poor management from the OTT giant.
Well despite these speed breakers, the event garnered a total of 108 Million viewers worldwide making it the most streamed sports event of all time. The event peaked with 65 Million viewers during the event and the main event involving Tyson and Paul was watched by 60 Million households according to Netflix.
Now the main question arises, are these numbers blown up by the OTT giant given the hype and outcome of the match, there might not be such a huge crowd witnessing the event. What makes these numbers more suspicious are the constant buffering problems that kept several viewers on the sidelines.
While there is no proof regarding the numbers, it opens the window of speculations and debates. As Netflix prepares for its next live-streaming venture with WWE in January, it will be interesting to see how these numbers will come into play this time.
