Netflix Launches Exciting Korean Film Slate For 2025

Netflix has unveiled its upcoming slate of Korean films in 2025, further strengthening its library of globally appealing Korean content. The announcement has been at an event in the sidelines of the Busan International Film Festival.

The exciting and diverse Korean film line-up announced by Netflix includes various genres ranging from thriller, science fiction, romance, to action and much more.

First up we have ‘Good News’ (working title) from acclaimed director Byun Sung-hyun (‘The Merciless’, ‘Kill Boksoon’). Set in 1970, the film set its a suspicious operation carried out by a group determined to land a hijacked airplane by any means necessary. Starring Sul Kyung-gu, Hong Kyung, and Ryoo Seung-bum, ‘Giod News’ marks the second between Director Byun Sung-hyun and Netflix, following ‘Kill Boksoon’.

Next up is sci-if disaster drama ‘The Great Flood’ by director Kim Byung-woo (‘The Terror, Live’, ‘Take Point’). In this high stakes survival drama set on earth’s last day, lead stars Kim Da-mi and Park Hae-soo battle to save a child amidst a global deluge.

Netflix is also bringing its first Korean animated film next year and its called ‘Lost In Starlight’. Starring the voices of the duo from ‘Revenant’ Kim Tae-ri and Hong Kyung, the film is a space romance drama directed by Han Ji-won. ‘Kill Boksoon’ spin-off ‘Mantis’ (working titles) the next entry in the list which marks the directorial debut of Lee Tae-sung. A high octane action drama, ‘Mantis’ follows Han-ul, an ace assassin known as Martin and working for MK Ent, who returns to a collapsed-order hired killer industry post vacation. Mantis returns to this chaotic and anarchic industry in search of new opportunities and finds that Jae-yi, his fellow trainee and rival, and Dok-go, a retired legendary killer are all trying to gain the top spot among the killers.

‘Revelations’ a thriller intertwining faith and crime, coming from ‘Hellbound’ collaborators Yeon Sang-ho and Choi Gyu-seok is next. Starring Ryu Jun-yeol and Shin Hyun-been, the film follows a pastor and a detective, each driven by their own beliefs. The pastor believes it’s his divine calling to punish the culprit behind a missing-person case, while the detective assigned to the case continues to be haunted by visions of her dead sister.

And lastly there is ‘Wall to Wall’ from ‘Unlocked’ director Kim Tae-joon starring Kang Ha-neul, Yeom Hye-ran and Seo Hyun-woo.
