Filmmaker Ryan Coogler cast Michael B. Jordan as Oscar Grant in Fruitvale Station (2013), then put him in the boxing ring in Creed (2015), and later transported him to Wakanda in Black Panther (2018). Now, their upcoming fifth collaboration comes in the form of a supernatural horror set in the 1930s, Sinners. Warner Bros has unveiled the film’s first-look trailer.
Early reports have described Sinners as a vampire flick; however, neither the studio nor the filmmakers have confirmed this yet. The secrecy surrounding the movie’s plot and genre is intriguing. The story has been kept under wraps by Warner Bros, Coogler, and Jordan since the film was officially announced in January of this year. The studio fought hard in a bidding war to acquire distribution rights against industry giants such as Universal Pictures and Sony. Reportedly, the film’s budget has reached $90 million.
Sinners is based on an original script by Coogler, who has also helmed and produced the movie along with Zinzi Coogler and Sev Ohanian. Jordan seems to be playing twins in this one. But except for the mentioned details in this article, everything about the film is being kept under wraps.
The rest of the cast includes Hailee Steinfeld, Delroy Lindo, Wunmi Mosaku, Jack O’Connell, Omar Benson Miller, and Jayme Lawson.
Sinners is scheduled for a global theatrical release on March 7, 2025. Stay tuned for more updates. Watch the trailer below!
