Stage, a prominent regional streaming platform, has joined ZEE5 Global’s US add-ons suite. The former platform is best known for offering content in Rajasthani and Haryanvi. In addition to its primary languages, Stage will soon include shows and movies in other regional languages such as Maithili, Awadhi, and Bhojpuri. It gained further prominence after its appearance on Shark Tank India.
The inclusion of Stage is part of ZEE5’s ongoing efforts to expand its add-ons offering. Stage gained nationwide popularity and attention during Season 2 of Shark Tank India, where founders Shashank Vaishnav, Vinay Singhal, and Parveen Singhal successfully raised a significant sum of money for what was then a small start-up. The platform originated from WittyFeed, India’s answer to BuzzFeed. Notably, Olympic gold medalist and javelin thrower Neeraj Chopra is one of Stage’s key investors.
By partnering with ZEE5, Stage can reach a broader audience, particularly in the US, where there is a substantial Indian diaspora. Furthermore, Stage’s content will enhance ZEE5’s content library, diversifying its offerings. This collaboration has the potential to strengthen ZEE5’s market position, especially in regions with a significant South Asian population.
Customers will be able to subscribe to Stage through the ZEE5 platform for $2.99 per month. However, Stage will face direct competition from other regional platforms like Simply South, NammaFlix, Oho Gujarati, Chaupal, and more in the United States. Currently, ZEE5 operates in over 190 countries, offering a diverse collection of content spanning more than 200,000 hours in over 20 languages. Stay tuned for further updates.
