Certain films etch their place in your hearts for how warm and fuzzy they are in the way they capture a family and the multitude of emotions that come along with it. One such comedy family drama is ‘This Is where I Leave You’ by Shawn Levy (‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, Free Guy’, ‘Arrival’) that is currently streaming on Prime Video.
Starring an ensemble cast of Jason Bateman, Tina Fey, Adam Driver, Rose Byrne, Corey Stoll, Kathryn Hahn, Connie Britton, Timothy Olyphant, Dax Shepard, and Jane Fonda, ‘This Is Where I Leave You’ is based on the eponymous 2019 novel wittten by Jonathan Tropper, who has also penned the screenplay for the film.
In ‘This Is Where I Leave You’, when their father passes away, four grown siblings bruised and banged up by their respective adult lives, are forced to return to their childhood home and live under the same roof.
The film very well captures the siblings connect with each other and their mother after such long. While it gets chaotic at times, the time they domed together gives them an overall clarity and serves as a healing medicine that leaves them and the viewers with a renewed sense of love and understanding.
‘This Is Where I Leave You’ will feel like a warm hug on a winter night and is hence a perfect watch for this cold December.
