It is common knowledge that numerous platforms and organisations have been set up within the country to promote Indian titles worldwide, and for a wider, more international audience.
The ‘Film Bazaar’, set up by the National Film Development Corporation, is one such platform that fosters collaboration between South Asian as well as International film communities.
For its 18th edition this year, the Festival boasts a rich and diverse slate of feature films. From a collective pool of more than 180 feature submissions, which span 23 countries, a mere 21 features successfully made the cut. These projects have been selected from languages like Hindi, English, Assamese, Tamil, Marwari, Bengali, Malayalam, Punjabi, Cantonese, and more in a clear demonstration of the growing international appeal of the Bazaar.
Moreover, these projects also span the following countries: India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Australia, the U.K., Germany, and Hong Kong. The lineup is truly a raw reflection of South Indian culture, with stories about dementia and tradition, the consequences Bollywood fame, corporate exploitation of tribal lands, and more.
The impressively diverse slate also features a wide array of genres, ranging from drama and thriller to romance and technical advancements. All chosen projects will not only be displayed, but will also receive critically required financial assistance!
