Prime Video’s latest show ‘The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh’ launched today on the platform but surprisingly no one is talking about this immigrant family drama, not in the U.S. and not even in India.
Indians are often quick to catch on anything that has an desi touch and ‘The Pradeeps of Pittsburgh’, that follows an Indian family and their life in the U.S., has a lot of Indian-ness to it and yet there is like no response.
Remember Netflix’s ’Never Have I Ever’, it was a teenage rom-com about an Indian origin American girl and it was a massive hit. But who would have expected that ‘The Pradeep Of Pittsburgh’ would go so unnoticed.
Despite having some good comedy, the show is not picking up pace and the makers and Prime Video is to blame for it. They did not take much effort to promote it, specially in India, and the result is that no one seems to be interested in the show now, even if it’s good. That’s why marketing is such an important tool and needs to be used effectively to make the content work in today’s world.
If it was done right, ‘The Pradeeps Of Pittsburgh’ would certainly have found a large audience base here in India where people love to see their own making it big in a foreign land and also we Indians love our family dramas so it would have gained attention on that front too. But looks like Prime Video, which has a deep presence in Indian OTT space forgot this aspect and now the show is hardly known to anyone. It remains to be seen if social media can do its magic and the show would travels through word-of-mouth or not.
