Produced by Kantara’s fame Rishab Shetty, the Kannada movie Laughing Buddha was one of the most anticipated regional movies released on August 30th. The lives and hardships of Govardhan, an overweight police head constable, are humorously and nonjudgmentally shown in the film.
Laughing Buddha tells the story of a kindhearted police officer who values food, family, and his work equally. It also shows how his life completely changes when he learns that his obesity could result in his losing his job. What follows is a laughter ride with an emotional message which takes viewers through a rollercoaster of emotions.
The film was produced by Rishab Shetty under the Rishab Shetty Films banner and was written and directed by M. Bharath Raj. Under the cinematography of S. Chandrasekaran, this Kannada film features Pramod Shetty, Teju Belawadi, Sundar Raj, SK Umesh, and Diganth in prominent roles.
While the film didn’t do any wonders at the Box Office, it could be an absolute hit on the OTT. With Prime Video being its streaming partner, the film is currently streaming on the platform. While Prime Video didn’t have any promotional strategy for the film, it is a huge miss for them as given the stellar cast and compelling plot, the film might do wonders on OTT.
