The main problem with several regional films is the fact that there is little or no engagement for some underrated masterpieces and in this case, it is none other than Srii Murali’s Bagheera. The film, which was released on October 31st coinciding with Diwali is set to release digitally on Netflix.
The film faced tough competition from other regional and mainstream releases resulting in a below-average box office collection. It collected over 20 crores at the box office and almost recovered its overall budget. By these stats, you must be thinking it is another one of those cheesy thrillers containing overhyped action sequences and excessive slow-motion shots making a generic superhero film.
Well, audiences didn’t judge it like that as the film opened to mostly positive reviews since its release. Directed by Dr Suri, the film captures the essence of Roaring Star of Kannada cinema Srii Murali and is exactly what to expect from such an action-entertainer.
The film might be an experiment but the way it was executed was splendid and the fight against injustice is the main message behind the film. Srii Murali carried the film throughout its runtime and gave fans what they wanted despite having low ticket sales and limited screens.
Alongside Murali, Prakash Raj, Rangayana Raghu, Achyuth Kumar, and Sudha Rani also gave bold performances in this Dr Suri directorial. After an underwhelming outing at the cinemas, this film might become a sleeper hit on Netflix in the future. Bagheera drops on Netflix tonight in Kannada, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam, and Tulu languages with English subtitles.
