Oshana is a new Malayalam movie that will be released on November 1st, at the time of Diwali. The film is a coming-of-age musical drama with love and relationship as the central theme. The film has been directed by N. V. Manoj and written by Jithin Joseph. It has Dhyan Sreenivasan and Althaf Salim playing the lead roles.
The film is a very average looking one, as per the impression of its trailer and description. It could have gained an average collection in the normal times thanks to its low budget. But in the time of Diwali things and scenarios change. The film most probably will fail in the box office.
The makers of the film have used a very bad marketing strategy. The film is releasing in two days, and its official poster is still missing from various ticket booking sites. The film has yet to release a trailer, a teaser though has been released, is of very less significance. The film is not even the top result in web search, instead a 2014 film of similar name takes the place. All of this shows the bad marketing strategy taken by the makers of the film.
Oshana is the only original Malayalam movie that is being released in the time of Diwali. But the film still will lack a grip in the local theatres. Films like Amaran and Lucky Bhaskar are more compelling titles that will have a huge grasp of the audience in the Southern regions. The fact that they will also be released in Malayalam will give them an edge with the audience speaking the language. This will further lessen the chances of Oshana to succeed.
The film can see no chance of success in the box office owing to its bad marketing strategy and the big fishes present already about to be released at the time.
