In an awesome turn of events, National Film Award winning filmmaker Christi Tomy’s latest Malayalam film ‘Ullozhukku’ has achieved a phenomenal feat as its screenplay gets included in the library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences. Dhanush’s ‘Raayan’ had been selected for the same recently.
This is an incredible for a small film like ‘Ullozhukku’ as this gives it the recognition it rightly deserves. The film had received huge critical acclaim upon its release and now this achievement further solidifies the film’s credibility.
In ‘Ullozhukku’ during a heavy monsoon flood, a young widow and her doting mother-in-law waits with their family for the waters to recede, so they can hold a funeral for their loved one. But as the floodwaters rise, they are forced to confront long-buried secrets and lies that threaten their unity.
Directed by Christo Tomy (‘Curry & Cyanide: The Jolly Joseph Case’), ‘Ullozhukku’ stars Parvathy, Urvashi, Shebin Benson, Arjun Radhakrishnan, Veena Nair, and Alencier Ley Lopez. The music for the film has been composed by Sushin Shyam with cinematography by Shehnad Jalal and editing by Kiran Das. ‘Ullozhukku’ is currently streaming on Prime Video and is a must watch.
