“Does The ‘Duet In Lead’ Become A Lucky Factor To Mollywood?”

By Binged Bureau - Oct 03, 2024 @ 10:10 pm
“Does The ‘Duet In Lead’ Become A Lucky Factor To Mollywood?”

The concept of two lead roles has been right there from the inception of Indian Cinema. The Malayalam filmography has brought several such efforts that could do well at the box office. Is this going to become a trend now? If so, how can it impact such films in the future?

The year it started the trend with ‘Premalu’, written and directed by Girish A D and bankrolled by Bhavana Studios. The characters ‘Sachin’ and ‘Amal Davis’ were so convincing and relatable, both to the young and adult circle which could make the film more engaging and provide a rolling laughter riot. The roles are played by actors Naslen and Sangeeth Prathap respectively.

On the contrary, ‘Aadujeevitham’ or ‘The Goat Life’ could provide a deeper, more serious, and more sensitive emotional lock between ‘Najeeb’ and ‘Hakim’ who are the pivotal characters in the story. The movie is written and directed by Blessy, and bankrolled by Visual Romance Productions. Actors Prithviraj Sukumaran and Gokul play the mentioned characters.

‘Varshangalku Shesham’ talks about the value of art and how friendship can help in constructing a brilliant piece of work and achieving success for the work. The movie travels through two co-incidental friends named Venu and Murali, who are performed by actors Dhyan Sreenivasan and Pranav Mohanlal in their respective roles. The movie is directed by Vineeth Sreenivasan and Merryland Cinemas bankrolls the effort.

Albeit ‘Malayalee from India’ didn’t receive much good response due to its lack of effective narrative, showcasing the bond between characters ‘Aalparambil Gopi’ and ‘Jalal Bin Omar Al Rashid’ a.k.a ‘Sahib’ was something interesting to watch. Actors Nivin Pauly and Deepak Jethi performed the roles and the movie is directed by Dijo Jose Antony. Magic Frames Productions bankrolled the flick.

‘Guruvayoor Ambalanadayil’ attempts to give an unusual combination of the relationship between two in-laws named ‘Anandan’ and ‘Vinu’ thereby turning to unexpected events that present humorously. Actors Prithviraj Sukumaran and Basil Joseph mounted their respective roles. The flick is directed by Vipin Das and produced by Prithviraj Productions along with E4 Entertainment.

Christo Tomy’s ‘Ullozhukku’ tells the intricate and shady relationship between a middle-aged woman and her daughter-in-law which is performed great by actors Oorvashi and Parvathi Thiruvoth respectively.

Popular for a distinctive approach in cop investigation thriller flick, ‘Thalavan’ revolves around the travel of two police officers in pursuit of a big truth which has been brilliantly portrayed by actors Biju Menon and Asif Ali respectively. The movie is directed by Jis Joy and produced by Arun Narayanan Productions and London Studios.

However, movies like Jay K’s ‘GRrr’ and Nahas Nazar’s ‘Adios Amigo’ didn’t become much of what the trend followed and turned out to be average grosser at the box office. Hopefully, the upcoming movies like ‘Thekku Vadakku’ and ‘Pushpaka Vimanam’ that are releasing on the 4th of October are expected to bring the trend into action.
