The bigger projects in the Malayalam film industry are no more a dream in today’s context. The blend of brilliance in storytelling and mass commercial appeal is its prime factor. Luckily, most of the successful mammoth efforts are character-driven narratives.
Post the effort in becoming a blockbuster and the highest grosser in the industry, ‘Lucifer’ has achieved such a remarkable feat with its merit in storytelling and conviction. When the second part of the franchise is en route, what do the main characters in its first installment like ‘Zayed Masood’ want to decipher?
Lucifer is a 2019 Indian Malayalam-language political action thriller film directed by actor Prithviraj Sukumaran and written by Murali Gopy. Bankrolled by Antony Perumbavoor for the production house Aashirvad Cinemas, the film marks Prithviraj’s directorial debut.
Also, actor Prithviraj is portraying the role named ‘Zayed Masood’ who is a more intriguing, multi-layered, and shady character as per the storyline. The first part showed a very brief part of such a character, who is claimed as the most powerful mercenary hit-men group and more knowledgeably, the general of Khureshi Abram, that is the character played by actor Mohanlal.
Furthermore, the second installment will be more exciting as there is a chance for in-depth analysis and more awareness of the character psychology of Zayed Masood. Like Khureshi Abram, the character is to have been created with a grey shade and hoping that the actor can justify such a profound character. How much scope does this character have?
Being an intriguing but interesting character for the audience’s appeal, Zayed Masood can be able to bring a different dimension and versatility in building another layer for the film’s engaging factor. Apart from this, a well-defined character arc is expected and something to achieve more than being Khureshi Abram’s General.
‘E.M.P.U.R.A.A.N’ consists of an ensemble cast that includes actors Tovino Thomas, Indrajith Sukumaran, Manju Warrier, Saniya Iyappan, Arjun Das, Saikumar, Baiju Santhosh, Suraj Venjaramoodu, Fazil and Sachin Khedekar playing pivotal roles.
