The issues happening in the Indian Film Industry are becoming wider and coming to light. How truthful is this illumination? What is the new story?
Post noise and voice regarding the Hema Committee report by the government of Kerala that spoke about the atrocities and pay parity for people, especially focusing on women behind the spotlight, has created a plethora of allegations, facts, and opinions for the audience and observers of the industry.
As per the latest credible reports, the news stories concerned with substance abuse involving alcohol and drugs in the film industry are becoming rampant. Again, this issue has started to put the wave on the Malayalam film industry which is now a sensitive issue that can create a ruckus in the industrial circle. How severe would it be for such an industry which is keenly observed by the world audience?
Even though the allegations were reported about the issue back in the year 2017, the intensity of addressing was claimed to be weak. However, as it is addressed rampant in today’s context, an attempt at scrutiny in an investigation should be visible by the law-and-order system.
Subsequently, if such a serious and sensitive issue is delayed from the pursuit process, the film industry’s situation will get worse. Along with this, such a constraint can even have a dirty effect on the other industrial circles, thereby affecting the box office.
However, the Kerala High Court on Monday directed the SIT investigating the sexual abuse allegations in the Malayalam film industry to probe the widespread use of alcohol and drugs on film shooting sets and other related workplaces.
It is an eye-opening effort from the ‘Hema committee report’ which talked especially about the atrocities against female artists and the casting couch in the Malayalam film industry and as suggested by the report, this is scary and serious at the same time.
