As it is believed, “Change for good is good”. The last Friday of the month is here and a total of five films, both from regional and others have been released for the big screens of Kerala. Will it be able to fill the seats fast? Or can it impact the box office?
Three Malayalam films named ‘Cup- Love All Play’, ‘Gumasthan’, and ‘Chithini’ along with ‘Meiyazhagan’, which is a Tamil film, and ‘Devara’ which is a pan- Indian Telugu flick are the movies released this date. All of these movies have popular figures in any part of the effort for the Kerala audiences.
The September releases like ‘A.R.M’ and ‘Kishkindha Kaandam’ have turned into blockbusters and are still running in theatres. Do the latest films have the potential to alter the box-office figures?
‘Cup-Love All Play’ is a sports-family drama that is directed by debutant Sanju V Samuel and produced by Allwin Antony and Angelena Marry under the Anany Films banner. The screenplay is co-written by Akhilesh Latharaj and Denson Durom. The technical labour includes cinematography by Nikhil S Praveen, editing done by Reckson Joseph, and music composed by Shaan Rahman.
The movie consists of an ensemble cast featuring actors Mathew Thomas, Basil Joseph, Namitha Pramod, Guru Somasundaram, Anikha Surendran, and Anand Roshan respectively.
The audience reactions are below average to mixed for the flick concerning its storytelling and technical areas, where performances were the only satiable aspect despite its expectations.
‘Gumasthan: A Brutal Criminal Beyond Law’ is a crime thriller that is based on a cop investigation episode and a landlord is its nucleus for the storyline. The movie is directed by Amal K Joby and produced by Musafir Film Company. The screenplay is penned by Riyas Ismath and the music is composed by Stephen Devassy. The technical labour includes the handling of cinematography by Kunjunni S Kumar and editing is done by Ayoob Khan.
The movie features actors Bibin George, Dileesh Pothan, Jaise Jose, Rony David Raj, Azees Nedumangad, Alexander Prasanth, and Sminu Sijo in important roles.
Despite having a better storyline and performance of actor Jaise Jose, the promotional aspect of the flick is not to the point and has fewer big names from the industry. The crowd pull is comparatively low but is expected to do well soon.
‘Chithini’ is a murder-mystery horror thriller written, produced, and directed by East Coast Vijayan along with popular technical labour which includes music composed by Ranjin Raj, Ratheesh Ram handling the cinematography, and editing overseen by Johnkutty.
The cast includes actors Amith Chakkalakkal, Johny Antony, Vinay Fort, Moksha, Sudheesh, Arathy Nair, and Manikandan Achari respectively.
The movie is receiving critical acclaim for its music, performances, and climax portions. Nevertheless, the movie has no greater selling prepositions.
The other language films like ‘Meiyazhagan’ and ‘Devara’ are getting average to mixed responses albeit having selling points like the director and the main leads. Also, there are no special aspects or noteworthy happenings that excite the Kerala audiences.
