Cop movies in the Malayalam film industry are plentiful in figures. Different types and various dimensions have been witnessed by the large audience breaking all the shackles of industrial boundaries. The discussions about stories of the system as well as the underdogs are either passed or need improvement. How can this upcoming cop movie stand out compared with the history of cop filmography?
‘Officer on Duty’ is expected to be an action cop investigative thriller directed by Jithu Ashraf where Martin Prakkat, Sibi Chavara, and Renjith Nair will be bankrolling the flick for Martin Prakkat Films and Green Room Productions. Martin Prakkat has also directed the national award-winning movie named ‘Nayaattu’.
A highly acclaimed technical department is present, where Shahi Kabir will be writing the screenplay and dialogues, Roby Varghese Raj will be handling the cinematography, and Chaman Chacko will oversee the editing.
Recent filmography by actor Kunchako Boban is marvelous and highly praised by critics for his efficiency in script selection. Here, the actor will be playing a cop, that too with a character-driven narrative that is not expected to be a conventional pattern for its team behind the lens but more anticipated to what he has done the character that he has done in ‘Naayattu’, for which he played a civil police officer.
Furthermore, the storytelling is expected to have well-written characters that rotate around the main lead and can give an engaging experience. Actors Priyamani, Jagadeesh, and Vishak Nair will be playing pivotal roles in the effort.
