The month of September was given huge expectations for the number of theatrical releases in establishing a profound response and satisfying commercial returns. But does the effort make it so?
A total of ten Malayalam films are released on the big screen with high and low-budget scales along with two Tamil language films, and one Telugu film respectively. Out of these, the major portion of the month was in the Drama genre which was five in number along with three each were that of both thriller and comedy genres.
From the above, two films ‘A.R.M’ and ‘Kishkindha Kaandam’ that were ‘Onam’ releases are blockbusters and still serving at the box office with heavy positive responses. ‘Kondal’ on the other hand received an average total gross due to its lack of attributes for the festival release. Also, movies like ‘Bad Boyz’, ‘Gangs of Sukumarakurup’, and ‘Kummatikali’ couldn’t make much impact.
The release of the much-awaited Tamil movie ‘G.O.A.T’ received a great initial gross from the state, but gradually went down because of its less likeability by the audiences.
The first half of the month ended with less hope for the release of a comedy movie named ‘Prathibha Tutorials’ that didn’t connect well with the audience.
The second half of the month depended upon the anticipated Pan-Indian Telugu film named ‘Devara’ which had a decent initial albeit expecting the chance to decline the performance same as what happened to ‘G.O.A.T’.
Furthermore, the last week’s releases like ‘Katha Innuvare’, ‘Chithini’, and ‘Gumasthan’ are receiving average to mixed responses and appreciating the performances and technical labour that can have the scope of becoming commercial success despite their low promotional call.
The expected movie of the group named ‘Cup-Love All Play’ received mixed responses from the audience which doesn’t seem to be a big win.
In a nutshell, the success percentage of the box office is comparatively low when compared with the previous month.
