Careers in the media and entertainment industry, especially acting, are often considered to be volatile. Even the biggest of names can suffer if they don’t make the smartest choices, with respect to the projects they choose to get onboard.
Indian actor and producer who primarily works in Malayalam and Tamil films Fahadh Faasil, is a pan-India renowned name. With his most recent action comedy film ‘Aavesham’, causing quite the online stir and releasing to widespread acclaim, the actor is set to appear in a few more major projects. Case in point: Rajnikanth’s highly awaited ‘Vettaiyan’ as well as the potential Telugu blockbuster ‘Pushpa 2’.
However, one project that has failed to ignite the excitement of audiences online is ‘Bougainvillea’, a Malayalam thriller that follows a family deeply entangled in a police investigation surrounding the mysterious disappearance of tourists in Kerala. The Amal Neerad directorial, slated to debut in theatres on October 17, is neither being marketed well, nor being talked about anywhere.
The sparse people who have expressed interest in the title are either those who religiously follow Faasil, or are fans of Neerad’s previous features like ‘Bheeshma Parvam’, ‘Varathan’, ‘Big B’, and more. As is witnessed in numerous other theatrical releases, is ‘Bougainvillea’ also banking on support from Faasil’s other releases to amass viewership?
But how is even that to happen if barely anyone knows about the title all together? Or will the marketing take off once the country is riding the ‘Vettaiyan’ high?
