The day has been a great one in presenting two Malayalam web series for the OTT platform. Can the quantity be able to withstand the quality? This dark investigation thriller is shady but open to the audience.
‘1000 Babies’ is an intriguing Malayalam web series directed by Najeem Koya and bankrolled by Shaji Nadeshan along with Actor Arya for August Cinema.
The series boasts an ensemble cast including actors Rahman, Neena Gupta, Sanju Sivaram, Ashwin Kumar, Adil Ibrahim, Shaju Sreedhar, Irshad Ali, Joy Mathew, V K Prakash, Manu M Lal, Shalu Rahim, Sirajudheen Nazar, Dain Davis, Radhika Radhakrishnan, Vivia Shanth, Naslin, Dileep Menon, Dhanesh Anand, Srikant Murali, and Sreekanth Balachandran in important roles.
As per the credible responses, the conception of the effort is noteworthy and has a strong storyline, followed by a gripping intrigue and brilliant technical wing. The narrative is fast-paced, creating a mood of fear and investigative nature consisting of seven episodes in short durations.
However, the choices in casting are not up to the mark albeit relieved from the performance by actor Neena Gupta, which sets up as its main drawback.
Technical labour like Faiz Siddiq’s cinematography and editor John Kutty’s work are satiable. Sankar Sharma’s background scores are intriguing but no novelty. Writing by Arouz Irfan and the director justifies the idea but weakens it with more artificiality in dialogues.
On the contrary, the lead given in the end can have a potential scope in the second season that can be a better hope for the viewers.
