It is often said that a movie is a 50 percent success if its antagonist is strong and able to drive the narrative. But what if the movie showcases the life of a villain? ‘Kammara Sambhavam’ (Eng. Kammaran’s Incident) is a 2018 Malayalam epic historical action satirical film directed by Rathish Ambat and written by Murali Gopy. Gokulam Gopalan produces the movie for Sree Gokulam Movies. The technical labour includes the handling of cinematography by Sunil K S, editing by Suresh Urs, and music composed by Gopi Sundar respectively.
The background is set up during the time of the 2nd World War and revolves around the world from Kammaran Nambiar’s perspective. The crux of the storyline is what Napoleon Bonaparte quoted once- “History is a set of lies agreed upon”. The plot speaks about building up a business strategy by some liquid barons using the political method that can easily convince the citizens and they use the best medium which can inspire and propagate flawlessly, that is to make a feature film related to a biopic about Kammaran Nambiar, an ayurvedic practitioner who later becomes the chief minister of the Kerala state.
The movie has a brilliant multilayered screenplay, exemplary cinematography, striking music composition, and profound production design by Vinesh Banglan who has won the 66th National Award for his work.
The flick consists of an ensemble cast that features actor Dileep, who is the antagonist of the story, and actor Siddharth, who is the protagonist. Actor Namitha Pramod is the female lead, along with actors Bobby Simha, Murali Gopy, Shwetha Menon, Manikuttan, Vijayaraghavan, and Siddique in Supporting roles.
The performance of actor Dileep is a highlight of the film as it has different facets and his delivery is mind-blowing. Actor Siddharth is dedicated and splendid to his character which is another watchable aspect.
